The NPMA and the University of Kentucky survey,
2011 Bugs Without Borders, reveals that bed bugs are found just about everywhere. Over 400 pest management professional weighed in from coast to coast and over 99% has encountered bed bugs. Respondents attribute the growth in bed bug infestations to increase in travel, lack of public awareness, not enough prevention measures being taken and resistance to available products.
Bed bugs have been found by the majority of respondents in apartments, condos, and single family homes (9 out of 10) but, many have experienced double digit growth in many other places.

Vigilance is the key to detecting and preventing bed bugs. People need to be aware that bed bugs could be lurking in any public place or home and like to hitchike onto clothing and personal belongings. If people are not aware do not take precautionary measures infestations will continue to rise globally.
